From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft landed at ksfb and requested taxi to maintenance hangar. Ground issued instructions and aircraft turned on wrong ramp entrance. Aircraft ended up on ramp for flight school, instead of stopping and asking for assistance, the PIC opted to continue taxiing in densely packed area with no wing walkers. Student & instructor on ramp advised dispatch aircraft had struck the spinner of their aircraft while they were conducting a preflight inspection. The aircraft continued taxiing and advised ground they were on the wrong ramp, requested instructions to correct location. FAA poi was at flight school for erc meeting and was contacted to inspect flight school aircraft and gather information from PIC of aircraft. PIC of aircraft advised he saw people preflighting aircraft and could not see his wingtips, he thought they would tell him if he was clear. PIC acknowledged he should have stopped and asked for assistance once he knew he was at the wrong location. PIC stated he did have a current airport diagram available.

Damage to aircraft consisted of broken wingtip light cover, flight school aircraft had minor scratches on spinner but maintenance inspected and found no further issues.
