What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Airman made a "normal approach to landing" on an unimproved landing strip near Alexander Creek. The gravel strip had patches of ice on the landing surface. Airman reported light winds at the time. After touching down, during the landing roll out, slowing down using the heel brakes, the aircraft rolled over an icy patch. Unequal braking action caused the aircraft to turn to the right while sliding forward, and moving toward the right. The right wing started catching small trees along the right edge of the strip, causing the aircraft to turn more toward the right and closer to the right edge of the strip. Eventually, the aircraft was off the strip on the right side, now sliding in the snow, and the left gear leg folded in under the fuselage, and the left wing made contact with a large tree.
