From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On February 28, 2025, at 12:08 p.m. MST at the Rocky Mountain Metro Airport (bjc), a Cessna CE-172N, piloted by a student pilot, landed slightly right of centerline on runway 12R. Tire marks on the runway indicate the aircraft immediately began a skid left. The aircraft departed the runway 270’ after touchdown just north of the intersection of taxiway g and runway 12R. The aircraft struck an elevated runway light approximately 35 feet from entering the sod. The aircraft continued in the sod and at approximately 70 feet struck the taxiway g indicating sign. Upon striking the sign the aircraft became airborne and proceeded approximately 60 feet in the air before touching down in the sod and rolling to a stop approximately 620 feet later. The aircraft came to rest in the sod approximately 750 feet from departing runway 12R approximately 30 feet to the north of runway 12R. The event resulted in minor sheet metal damage to the lower portion of the aircraft and right main landing gear strut cowling.
