From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 03/14/2025 at 0704EDT a Schweizer, model 269C helicopter departed medina county airport (1G5) approximately 0617 local time enroute to wadsworth municipal airport (3G3) and took 43 gallons of avgas from the self-service pumps there. The helicopter then departed 3G3 at approximately 0647 enroute to portage county airport (pov). The ADS-B track shows the helicopter flying south for a short time followed by a turn to the southeast then turning northeast towards akron fulton airport (akr). The track went over (akr) proceeding northeast to just south of the Mogadore reservoir where ADS-B and witnesses saw the helicopter make at least one turn over the dam. The helicopter then proceeded northeast again at low altitude when it struck the neutral/static line of the power transmission wires running across the reservoir. The wire was approximately 50 feet over the water. The impact caused the helicopter to lose altitude resulting in large flash before descending in a nose down attitude into the water. The helicopter came to rest in about 2O feet of water about 200 feet from the north shore of the reservoir, which was about 500 feet wide at the point of impact. The elevation at the accident site was about 1080 feet. There was one individual on board, the pilot, who sustained fatal injuries.

As the FAA filed it
