From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot departed 4AZ8 intending to perform touch-and-go operations and practice emergency procedures at Pinal air Park (mzj). While en route to mzj, the pilot identified several dirt landing areas suitable for practicing emergency landings. After conducting a low-altitude fly-by and determining a landing zone (lz) was safe, the pilot proceeded with a touchdown. During the landing roll, the aircraft struck a wooden stump protruding from the ground, resulting in the left main landing gear shearing off.

Despite the loss of landing gear, the pilot initially maintained control of the aircraft, attempting to keep it straight and level. However, after several seconds, the aircraft began listing to the left, causing the left wing to contact the terrain. This ground contact led to the aircraft flipping over and coming to rest inverted.

As the FAA filed it
