From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Chesapeake, Virginia: a Mooney M20B departed the left side of the runway during initial takeoff roll. The pilot regained control of the aircraft while it was in the center sod and continued to ground taxi through the grass to the taxiway. Pilot continued down the taxiway to the departure end of the runway and successfully completed second takeoff attempt and entered traffic pattern. During landing roll-out, the aircraft again exited the runway midfield to the left side, entered center sod, approached a sloping drainage berm in center of the airfield, struck the propeller, struck the left wing, and came to a stop in the mud.
