From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On April 12, 2025, a quicksilver mx ii light sport aircraft (LSA) crashed in a field approximately five miles northeast of curtis field (bba) in Brady, Texas. The pilot was seriously injured in the crash and transported for medical treatment. The aircraft wreckage was examined, and it was determined to still contain approximately two gallons of fuel, all cylinders developed compression, induction and exhaust systems were unobstructed and spark plugs were in good condition. The pilot’s neighbor was interviewed and reported a dust devil moving across his property in the direction of where the pilot was flying. He went on to explain that immediately following this event is when he heard the crash. The pilot was interviewed once he was released from the hospital. He explained that he had performed several touch-and-go landings just prior to the accident. He reported that shortly after his final take-off, that he encountered a massive down draft that pushed him directly into the ground.
