From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

"Bradford, PA: privacy data omitted, CRJ9, rdu-cyyz, requested priority handling to cyyz arpt for one passenger who hit their head due to turbulence. Zob ARTCC declared an emergency before handing off the flight to toronto center. Damage: not reported. 04/29/2025 2159Z"

Crew had to parallel a line of thunderstorms east in northern oh/pa heading for the linng star. After going slightly east we had a “clear line” with what we thought was over 20 mile gap. Crew switched the seat belt sign on and fa’s were directed to suspend service and sit. Crew was IMC at the time. Shortly after crew had an emergency call from in-flight. Fa's were not injured, but there was a 2 year old that took a tumble. Several people reported hitting their heads, just one requiring medical attention. Crew declared a medical emergency and continued toward yyz. After landing ems/ambulance meet the flight at the gate.

None of the family sustained serious injuries and taken by ambulance as a precaution and further went home same day. All members were fine and the father had a minor cut which was treated.

• After deplaning, crew called ocm to discuss and brought in moc and decided on a suspected severe turbulence report and a severe turbulence incident was reported and FDR data was pulled. A “threshold 1” event was indicated and severe turbulence inspection was carried out. Crew had a good debrief.

• Maintenance completed threshold 1 inspection per defect 1653330 with no further damage or defects noted.
