From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The incident occurred at 1359 on April 30, 2025 when two Cessna 172S, privacy data omitted, taxied after landing. The second aircraft (#2) was rented by the PIC who had flown with his daughter as a passenger. The PIC for aircraft #2 cleared the taxiway and stopped to perform his post-flight checklist. The first aircraft (#1) landed shortly after the second aircraft and was being taxied by a student pilot while the flight instructor (PIC) monitored. The PIC of #1 stated wingtip clearance was adequate to bypass aircraft #2. As the aircraft #1 taxied past the stationary aircraft #2, the flight instructor allowed the student to proceed. The wingtip of the aircraft #1 made contact with the wingtip of aircraft #2 as the aircraft #1 moved adjacent to the aircraft #2. Aircraft #2 sustained minor damage to the wingtip and maintenance replaced the wingtip. The aircraft #1 did not sustain damage. The flight school contacted the FAA to report the incident.
