From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At sea, privacy data omitted, requested pushback from N7. After confirming with the flight crew that the aircraft had adequate room/clearance, the ramp controller cleared the crew to push back on the orange line. privacy data omitted Pushed onto the orange line and set their brake.

Soon after, privacy data omitted requested push from D8. After confirming that privacy data omitted was able to push shallow on the green line, the controller cleared privacy data omitted, to push shallow on the green line.

During privacy data omitted push, the pushcart driver conducted an s-turn maneuver pushing the tail toward privacy data omitted; then the pushcart driver began a turn, tail toward the n/ne. As privacy data omitted right wing approached the left wing of privacy data omitted, the right wing-walker of privacy data omitted watched but failed to command the pushcart to stop.

The investigation revealed that privacy data omitted push crew conducted an unnecessary s-turn. Had the ramp crew pushed straight back and stopped immediately over the green line, no conflict would have occurred.

Additionally, the investigation revealed that privacy data omitted right wing walker maintained a visual watch of the right wing but failed to respond to the impending wingtip conflict.

As the FAA filed it

AT SEA, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, REQUESTED PUSHBACK FROM N7. AFTER CONFIRMING WITH THE FLIGHT CREW THAT THE AIRCRAFT HAD ADEQUATE ROOM/CLEARANCE, THE RAMP CONTROLLER CLEARED THE CREW TO PUSH BACK ON THE ORANGE LINE. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ PUSHED ONTO THE ORANGE LINE AND SET THEIR BRAKE.

SOON AFTER, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ REQUESTED PUSH FROM D8. AFTER CONFIRMING THAT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS ABLE TO PUSH SHALLOW ON THE GREEN LINE, THE CONTROLLER CLEARED ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, TO PUSH SHALLOW ON THE GREEN LINE.

DURING ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ PUSH, THE PUSHCART DRIVER CONDUCTED AN S-TURN MANEUVER PUSHING THE TAIL TOWARD ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^; THEN THE PUSHCART DRIVER BEGAN A TURN, TAIL TOWARD THE N/NE. AS ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ RIGHT WING APPROACHED THE LEFT WING OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, THE RIGHT WING-WALKER OF ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WATCHED BUT FAILED TO COMMAND THE PUSHCART TO STOP.

THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ PUSH CREW CONDUCTED AN UNNECESSARY S-TURN. HAD THE RAMP CREW PUSHED STRAIGHT BACK AND STOPPED IMMEDIATELY OVER THE GREEN LINE, NO CONFLICT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED.

ADDITIONALLY, THE INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ RIGHT WING WALKER MAINTAINED A VISUAL WATCH OF THE RIGHT WING BUT FAILED TO RESPOND TO THE IMPENDING WINGTIP CONFLICT.
