From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On may 28, 2025 at approximately 1725 EST, aircraft privacy data omitteda Piper PA-28-140, departed plant city municipal airport (kpcm) for Lakeland-Linder international airport (klal), with the pilot on board and no passengers. On approach to klal, the pilot entered the right downwind for runway 28 and noted mild turbulence as well as a visible storm cell approximately 6 nautical miles northeast of klal. This was noted by air traffic control (ATC), who then extended the downwind leg for privacy data omitted due to another aircraft coming in on long final. At approximately 1742 EST, the pilot landed the aircraft on runway 28 and when on roll out, the aircraft started to shift left (southward) due to winds. The pilot increased power and attempted to stay right to remain on the runway and set up for a possible go-around, but the aircraft departed the runway into the grass south of runway 28 so the pilot powered down and attempted to keep the aircraft straight to avoid flipping over. The nose wheel sunk into the grass and broke off/departed the aircraft resulting in the aircraft coming to an abrupt stop, a propeller strike/sudden stoppage, and damage to the propeller, engine cowling and exhaust pipe. The pilot suffered minor injuries due to the abrupt stop, and there was no major damage to airport property.

As the FAA filed it

ON MAY 28, 2025 AT APPROXIMATELY 1725 EST, AIRCRAFT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^A PIPER PA-28-140, DEPARTED PLANT CITY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KPCM) FOR LAKELAND-LINDER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KLAL), WITH THE PILOT ON BOARD AND NO PASSENGERS. ON APPROACH TO KLAL, THE PILOT ENTERED THE RIGHT DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY 28 AND NOTED MILD TURBULENCE AS WELL AS A VISIBLE STORM CELL APPROXIMATELY 6 NAUTICAL MILES NORTHEAST OF KLAL. THIS WAS NOTED BY AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL (ATC), WHO THEN EXTENDED THE DOWNWIND LEG FOR ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DUE TO ANOTHER AIRCRAFT COMING IN ON LONG FINAL.
