From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 06/08/2025 student pilot and CFI were practicing crosswind landings on runway 26 at Downtown Island home airport dkx. During the 5th landing aircraft touched down just prior to A3 exit and started rollout to slow down before braking. Right after crossing A3 exit both pilots noticed two deer running from the windsock on the north side of the runway heading towards the runway on an angle towards the aircraft. Pilot applied hard brakes in an attempt to stop before reaching the deer. One deer crossed the runway, while the second deer impacted the left-wing leading-edge forward of the fuel tank. Aircraft control was maintained and came to a complete stop moments after the impact. Aircraft was able to taxi off the runway to the parking ramp under its own power and performed engine shutdown. No damage to airport property was sustained. Neither student pilot nor CFI sustained any injuries.
