From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot-in-command took off from runway 18 at Cottonwood Airport (1C8) with a plan to do a right turn and depart from the downwind leg. The pilot departed the area towards dupage airport (kdpa) and contacted ATC for flight following. He was later informed by ATC that someone reported that on departure, the pilot had hit a light pole from a stadium that lies on the flight path for the departure leg. The pilot stated he never heard or felt when the plane hit the light. Upon reaching his destination, he did a low pass and asked ATC to check his undercarriage. The pilot landed without any issues. His plane was inspected and a dent was identified on the left aileron.
