From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After landing left of centerline, the student pilot failed to apply the appropriate amount of right rudder during the landing to properly account for crosswinds. Of note, the winds exceeded the student pilot’s endorsed limits upon arrival but were within limits upon departure. The student pilot became anxious during the rollout and overcontrolled the airplane; also, because of improper foot placement on the rudder pedals, the student inadvertently touched the left brake, resulting in the runway excursion. At that point, the student initiated a go-around, but not after striking the left-wing flap and left portion of the horizontal stabilator. Following the go-around, the student landed without further incident.

As the FAA filed it
