From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

July 27, 2025 at approximately 17:40 MDT time privacy data omitted a Mooney M20J took-off from the Nampa municipal airport (kman) on runway 29. The aircrafts airspeed at take-off appeared normal at 68KTS with the aircraft a few pounds under mtow however, the airspeed decreased after take-off.

The aircraft started a very slow left hand turn and continued a shallow climb as the airspeed continued to decrease to 57KT. The aircraft reached an altitude of 250’AGL as the rate of turn dramatically increased by 180 degrees within 30 seconds (twice the rate of a standard 2-minute turn)

A video received from a witness and turned over to the FAA iic via the Nampa police department showed the aircraft enter a stall from about 300’AGL as the airspeed started to increase momentarily to 67KTS before unofficial ADS-B data was lost. The landing gear handle was in the down position and the landing gear was extended at the accident site. It was also noted that the cabin door was found open by the first person on scene, the door handle was in the open position and the aft latch bolt did not appear damaged. It is also noted that there was a previously reported and unresolved nav/heading autopilot issue.

As the FAA filed it

JULY 27, 2025 AT APPROXIMATELY 17:40 MDT TIME ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ A MOONEY M20J TOOK-OFF FROM THE NAMPA MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KMAN) ON RUNWAY 29.
