What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On the day of the incident, the pilot executed maintenance procedures on the helicopter, including an engine oil change. Post-maintenance, the pilot initiated a hovering maneuver to warm the engine oil and subsequently performed side-to-side maneuvers. During these maneuvers, the right skid made contact with the ground. The pilot noted that the helicopter lacked adequate altitude while executing lateral movement. Upon lowering the collective, control was compromised, resulting in the helicopter rolling onto its left side and coming to rest following ground impact. The pilot acknowledged a loss of situational awareness during the maneuvers.
