From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed base of operations at 1940 CDT to conduct aerial application. The PIC completed the application work and noted the left fuel gauge indicated "low". PIC switched to the right-side gauge as he believed the right tank had more fuel. The "low fuel light" indicator iluminated shortly after switching to the right gauge. Moments later, the engine began to lose power. The PIC tried to use the manual fuel pump to regain power with no success. The engine did not respond and quit. At appoximately 2035 CDT the PIC attempted to land, without power, in a cornfield. The aircraft landed in the corn field but flipped upside down due to extremely muddy terrain. The aircraft sustained substantial damage. The PIC sustained minor injuries. No post crash fire.
