What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On August 10, 2025, at approximately 1500 local time, the pilot reported that during the landing flare on runway 30 at Goodland municipal airport (kgld), the aircraft, configured with full flaps, was lifted approximately 25 to 30 feet above the runway. The pilot reported adding a small amount of power and determining that sufficient runway remained to continue the landing. The pilot reported that the aircraft’s nose then yawed approximately 15 to 20 degrees to the right before being corrected, followed by a yaw of approximately 15 to 20 degrees to the left, which was also corrected. The pilot reported that the aircraft was no longer stabilized and that a go-around was initiated. The pilot reported that during the go-around attempt the nose yawed approximately 90 degrees to the right, after which the aircraft impacted the ground and slid to a stop in the grass near the intersection of runways 12/30 and 05/23.
ASOS data indicated a quartering tailwind during the approximate time of landing on runway 30.
No mechanical malfunctions or failures were reported or discovered that would have precluded normal operation of the aircraft.
As the FAA filed it
ON AUGUST 10, 2025, AT APPROXIMATELY 1500 LOCAL TIME, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT DURING THE LANDING FLARE ON RUNWAY 30 AT GOODLAND MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (KGLD), THE AIRCRAFT, CONFIGURED WITH FULL FLAPS, WAS LIFTED APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 30 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY.
