What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On 8/12/25 at 1910(l) at hio (Hillsboro airport) privacy data omitted a Bellanca 17-30A experienced a nose gear collapse upon landing.
Prior to the landing, the nose landing gear did not indicate down and locked. The PIC cycled the landing gear lever multiple times and actuated the landing gear emergency lever in an attempt to achieve the down and locked condition/indication.
After multiple attempts, the PIC asked the tower to confirm that the nose landing gear was down. The tower confirmed that the gear was down. Having no other methods to ensure the gear was down and locked, the PIC attempted the landing. During the landing, the PIC kept as little weight off the nose gear as he could until the natural need for the aircraft to settle on the nose gear.
As weight was applied to the nose gear, the PIC sensed that the aircraft nose was going lower than a normal landing. He opted to continue the landing resulting in the aircraft settling on the nose with the nose gear up.
Iic has requested from the privacy data omittedPIC, record of compliance with the following ad's: Bellanca AD 77-22-02 and 96-18-07. Iic has also requested an update from the privacy data omittedPIC once further inspection/maintenance reveals the cause of the condition.
As the FAA filed it
ON 8/12/25 AT 1910(L) AT HIO (HILLSBORO AIRPORT) ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ A BELLANCA 17-30A EXPERIENCED A NOSE GEAR COLLAPSE UPON LANDING.
IIC HAS REQUESTED FROM THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^PIC, RECORD OF COMPLIANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING AD'S: BELLANCA AD 77-22-02 AND 96-18-07. IIC HAS ALSO REQUESTED AN UPDATE FROM THE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^PIC ONCE FURTHER INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE REVEALS THE CAUSE OF THE CONDITION.
