From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While completing a 250 NM solo-cross country flight the pilot decided to discontinue the flight due to un-forecasted weather conditions the pilot decided to divert and land at another airport other than the planned original. After three hours of continuous weather monitoring the information was that storms were scattered throughout the route back to kafw but could be avoidable. With that information recieved the pilot then decided to take off. After departure the pilot said before lonestar approach sent her to the kafw tower radio they checked that she had the current ATIS – information p. ATIS at kafw indicated the winds 080° at 08 knots and 10 sm visibility. The pilot also mentioned given these conditions, she felt it was safe to proceed with the landing as it was within usaa, aircraft, and personal limits. When the pilot contacted the kafw tower, she asked for a full stop landing and also confirmed she had information p, which was the current ATIS. The pilot was then cleared by kafw tower to land on runway 16R. She joined the right base for runway 16R. Reviewed the usaa descent checklist – checklist was completed and satisfactory – before the pilot reduced power to 1500 RPM, descended to tpa, and added 10° flaps while maintaining an airspeed below 110 knots. After descending

About 200 feet, the pilot reviewed the usaa before landing checklist – checklist was completed

And satisfactory – before the pilot added 20° flaps while maintaining an airspeed under 85 knots. The pilot

Then made a right turn to 160° heading to line up on final with the runway centerline. The pilot did a

“Gumps” check before iand added 30° of flaps while maintaining an airspeed around 65 knots

And maintaining a left crosswind correction.

The pilot maintained a stabilized approach throughout the procedure. The pilot expressed once she was over the runway she reduced power and while in ground efect flared as the aircraft began to slow down and

Lose lift about 10 feet of the ground. She expressed since the winds were coming from 080° this caused

The right main wheel to touch the ground first causing the aircraft to veer to the right. The pilot said in her

Attempt to keep the aircraft on the center line and from going right, she applied left rudder. Shortly after the left main wheel touched down, the aircraft then veered to the left towards the grass. The pilot then attempted to steer the aircraft through the grass but the nosewheel hit a ditch, causing the aircraft to lean forward which then led to the propeller and right wingtip to hit the grass causing the aircraft to bounce backwards. After the aircraft stopped moving, the pilot then proceeded to let kafw tower know she needed help. This event happened at around 7:41PM CST. Completed the engine shutdown checklist and pilot then turned all systems off.

As the FAA filed it
