From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 08/19/25 at 1425 this Lancair aircraft had an incident.

The pilot was taking off on runway 26 left in El Paso, and he had just lifted off the runway. At about 10 to 20 feet above the runway suddenly the right wing and the nose dipped creating a loss of control. The pilot was able to adjust the wings to not hit the runway, but the nose gear touched down hard. At first the pilot didn’t think anything was wrong and then notified the tower he needed to taxi off to check the plane. As the pilot was pulling off of the runway he could hear and feel that something wasn’t right. The pilot then stopped the plane, and when he got out, he could see that nose gear linkage bracket had bent, which appeared to have caused the nose gear to move to the retracted position. The foregoing event lowered the nose enough that the propeller tips contacted the ground.

No injuries were incurred.

No maintenance anomalies or airworthiness issues were noted.
