From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Planned solo training flight consisting of three touch-and-go landings at kcos followed by flight to kpub to practice instrument approaches in preparation for instrument checkride. On first touch-and-go at kcos, ATC instructed to extend my downwind and advised that the tower would call base turn. Shortly afterward, was instructed to make left 360 and then land on runway 13. During the approach to runway 13, airspeed was approximately 85–90 knots. Entered ground effect at this speed with the throttle at idle. Attempted to reduce speed and settle the airplane for landing, but the aircraft bounced hard and began to porpoise along the runway. Despite attempts to recover, the nosewheel ultimately contacted the runway with significant force, resulting in a collapsed nosewheel and a propeller strike. Weather at kcos was VFR with light southeasterly winds - confirmed conditions would remain VFR for the flight using foreflight. No personal injuries occurred.

As the FAA filed it
