From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A designated pilot examiner (DPE) was conducting a commercial pilot multi-engine rating check ride with the pilot/applicant. Earlier in check ride the DPE assigned the pilot/applicant an engine failure (right engine). Later in check ride, just before the accident, the DPE assigned the pilot/applicant a single engine (right reduced power/thrust) approach/landing. During the flare the pilot/applicant decided the aircraft was unstable and initiated a go-around maneuver. The pilot/applicant applied full throttle to both engines. The aircraft veered to right. The DPE took over the controls. The DPE determined right engine was not making power/thrust. The DPE unable to establish positive rate of climb retracted flaps and landing gear and feathered right engine just prior to the right wing striking the ground. The aircraft sustained substantail damage.

As the FAA filed it
