From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On September 11, 2025 at 1210 EDT, during pushback of jbu 1282 (privacy data omitted, an Airbus A220 (BCS3), from gate A2 at Richmond International Airport (ric), the ground airline transportation (gat) pushback crew pushed the aircraft left wing into the glass windows of the terminal building. Part of the imbedded winglet was torn from the wing. Ric air traffic control tower filed an 8020-9 report. Maintenance removed the left-hand winglet, performed an on-ground contact to composite structure (phase 1) – special irregular inspection BD500-A-J05-51-42-01AAA-284A-A, including a hfec (high-frequency eddy current) non-destructive testing (ndt) inspection, and installed a replacement left-hand winglet per aviation maintenance program (amp). Aircraft was subsequently returned to service on September 23rd.
