From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 9/30/25 at approximately 1708 local time, privacy data omitted, Mooney M20J, sn: 24-0376, experienced a gear up landing at fzy on runway 6.

Inspected the aircraft and determined the damage to be minor. The aircraft belly and nose gear doors had severe pavement scuffing. The propeller had all three prop tips curled. The left inboard flap hinge bracket and fairing had pavement scuffs. The transponder antenna was partially sheared off. No other damage was noted. Took a statement from the PIC. The PIC stated he was on approach for rwy 6 and had his landing gear and his flaps extended. He stated he extended his landing gear at approximately 5 miles from the airport to help reduce speed. He stated the wind was fairly gusty at 14-19 KTS at approximately 30 degrees. The PIC stated that as he descended to approximately 300 feet, he felt turbulence or wind shear and the aircraft dropped. He was at approximately 70 KTS. He stated when he felt the drop he decided to go around for rwy 6 again and raised his flaps and gear. He stated he forgot to lower the landing gear again as he came back to rwy 6. He stated this was the first time performing a go around in this particular aircraft, but he had done many times in his other mooneys. Asked the PIC if the aircraft was equipped with an aural gear warning. He stated yes, the aircraft had an aural warning. The PIC stated he was unsure if the aural warning was going off or not. He stated the stall horn was activating intermittently because he was close to stall speed. He also stated the gear aural warning did not activate until the throttle was reduced to almost idle. The PIC stated he realized the gear was not down when the aircraft began to slide sideways.

Applied power to the aircraft and verified the gear aural warning horn sounded when the throttle was reduced to almost idle. Also verified the stall warning horn activated when the stall vane was actuated. The stall warning horn was extremely loud, and overpowered the aural gear warning.

As the FAA filed it

ON 9/30/25 AT APPROXIMATELY 1708 LOCAL TIME,^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, MOONEY M20J, SN: 24-0376, EXPERIENCED A GEAR UP LANDING AT FZY ON RUNWAY 6.
