What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Aircraft departed ksna with a destination of kads, weather was not a factor. Flight was uneventful until initial climb. Approximately 15 min after takeoff, during an intermediate level off at FL270 and mach 0.78, the pilot and co-pilot heard a very loud “boom” noise and noticed the left cockpit side window was shattered. The pilots referenced the quick reference handbook (qrh) and followed the “cracked window” procedure and returned to ksna. Descent, approach, landing, and taxi in were uneventful. Maintenance personel said the outer and inner panels did not crack so no loss of pressurization occured, it was the heated center panel that cracked.
