From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Previous aircraft logbook entries indicated both main landing gear assemblies were replaced with servicable assemblies. Nose landing gear actuator was removed, repaired and re-installed. One of the two nose gear actuator hydraulic hoses was replaced with a new manufactured aftermarket hose assembly. Age of failure hose assembly unknown. Pilot was prepairing to land aircraft, lowered gear and got an unsafe nose gear indication. Pilot tried emergency gear extention, upon moving pump handle, no resistance was felt. Pilot stated they could smell hydraulic fluid during troubleshooting. Pilot executed a pitch up attitude while recycling gear handle and got an all-safe gear indication. Upon landing when nose gear contacted runway, it remained down for a short period of time before collapsing causing minor damage to noes gear door and scissor link's, accompanied by a prop strike. Asi's inspection of aircraft verified nose gear actuator hydraulic hose failed at fitting crimp area and aircraft lost all hydraulic fluid.

As the FAA filed it
