From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 10-28-2025, aircraft departed ksba on return heading to kccb. Pilot stated that after reaching altitude of 5,500 feet east of kbur he noticed the oil pressure gauge was reading just below the green arc marking on the gauge face. The pilot stated that while passing north of kemt the oil pressure dropped to zero with the oil temperature reading normal. At this time the pilot stated that he initiated the descent to kccb, passing through 3,000 feet with kpoc within sight, the aircraft began to violently vibrate, as he initiated descent right turn to kpoc the cabin began to fill with smoke. The pilot stated that he communicated an emergency with socal approach, cut the fuel mixture and turned off the fuel pump. He configured the aircraft for landing for runway 26L, extended the landing gears, the aircraft stalled approximately 15-20 feet above the runway causing the aircraft to drop sending both main gears through the wings and the nose gear into the engine department causing major damage to the engine while sliding into the infield north of runway 26L, between the alpha and bravo taxiway exits came to a full stop on the north edge of the centerline of runway 26L. The aircraft sustained substantial damage, the pilot was uninjured, the passenger sustained minor injury to his right elbow which was treated on scene by the La Verne fire department. Aircraft was released by the NTSB for removal to a safe spot for further investigation.
