From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On December 8, 2025, a Boeing 737 jet conducted an aborted takeoff maneuver on runway 8R at the Honolulu international airport in Hawaii. The pilot stated that during the takeoff roll, a loud pop was heard and the aircraft veered to the left of the centerline. He reduced the power to stop the aircraft, and engine instruments indicated the #1 left engine had failed. The crew declared an emergency and returned to the parking area. The FAA ASI was dispatched to the ch hangar to investigate the event. Preliminary observations and interviews confirm that the engine failure occurred during the takeoff roll.
