What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On 12/21/2025 1719 EST at Fulton County Airport (use) Wauseon, OH a gear up landing occurred. The airman stated the reason for this flight was for pilot proficiency and testing. The airman recently had work done on the aircraft relating to the propeller and cylinders. To regain proficiency the airman took off rwy 27 and departed to the west. The airman practiced maneuvers, then proceeded back to use to perform takeoff and landings. The airman made position reports on the radio at 10, 7, and 5 miles away. After entering the downwind leg for rwy 27, the airman heard another aircraft stating that they were on a 1.5 mile straight in approach to rwy 27. The airman was concerned because the other aircraft was so close to the airport and this was their first radio call. The other aircraft decides to allow the airman to land first. The airman lands normally and taxis off the runway and watches the other pilot land. The other pilot lands, back taxis rwy 27, and immediately took off rwy 27. The airman was concerned with the airmanship of the other pilot, and the airman decides to do another lap in the traffic pattern. Once in pattern, the airman decides to fly slower to create more room between the two aircraft. The airman was preoccupied with slowing down by adding flaps that the airman forgot to deploy the landing gear. The airman continues for a normal approach and never put the landing gear in the down position. The airman said he was distracted due to the concern he had for the other pilot in the traffic pattern. The airman also did not hear the gear warning horn do to wearing a noise canceling headset. Minor damage was found on the flaps, propeller, and the lower fuselage.
