From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Engine started while pilot was outside aircrafts cockpit. Aircraft taxied unpiloted across airfield, east to west, gaining momentum on the eastern ramp area. Aircraft continued taxiing on eastern sod then became airborne for 75-100 yards at an altitude of 50-100 ft at the berm adjacent to the active runway 01/19. After crossing active runway, the aircraft settled and contacted the ground in the western sod before striking and coming to rest in the airfield western fence. Shortly after unpiloted taxiing began, the pilot attempted to mount the aircraft’s right wing and was thrown from the aircraft incurring sever injuries when impacting the ramp’s surface.
