From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Training flight from kmsn to kdll to practice approaches and pattern work and return. Cleared for takeoff rwy 32. Shortly after takeoff, PIC called out bird, CFI then saw a large bird directly I front of windscreen. CFI immediately pointed out a second bird that then dove to the left followed by pilots feeling and hearing a thump. There were no indications of damage but pilots decided to return for landing and inspection for damage. From the time that PIC saw the first bird to the impact of the second aircraft was approximately 500’-700’ AGL, directly above runway 32 centerline and climbing. We advised msn tower that we had a bird strike, requested clearance to land, and were cleared to enter the downwind for runway 36 and cleared to land. Upon inspection after shutting down the engine we found an impact dent on the left wing of the airplane.
