From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 02/21/2026 the aircraft was taken on a cross-country training flight. During the first takeoff attempt, the engine sputtered and the takeoff was aborted. An engine runup was performed and everything was normal. The second takeoff was normal, and a touch and go was performed at an airport along the way to the destination airport with no abnormalties. Upon approach at the destination airport, the CFI stated the aircraft was a little low and asked the student to add power. The aircraft was still losing altitude and the CFI observed the throttle was set to full. At this time, the CFI took over the controls and landed in a field after determining the aircraft would not make it to the airport. The landing was uneventful with no damage to the aircraft or property. There were no injuries.
