From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

I received a phone call from the roc on March 21, 2026, at 1329. Reported an aircraft landed in a field in Martin township mi due to engine failure. I arrived on scene Monday March 23, 2026, at 0830. The aircraft was resting in a plowed field with the fuselage up right with the landing gear retracted. The three bladed propeller tips were bent back, and it appeared that the propeller was not under power when I struck the ground. The left-hand and right-hand wings are intact. The empennage is intact. There was no evidence of fuel leaks or fire. Fuel tanks indicated approximately 28 gallons in the left-hand wing and 29 gallons in the right-hand wing. Fuel selector was in the right tank position. I could not determine the extent of the damage at this time. I contacted the pilot via telephone and discussed the plan for removing the aircraft from privacy data omitted field. I was told by the privacy data omitted that the field is too wet to bring in equipment for the removal at this time.

March 23, 2026, at 1130. The pilot contacted me via phone call and has scheduled a recovery team to assess the recovery.

March 26, 2026, 0930. Arrangements were made to remove the aircraft from the field. Recovery team lifted the aircraft and lowered all landing gear and towed it to a secure location. Upon inspection of the lower fuselage, I have noted that there was no substantial damage to the airframe. Checked continuity of all flight controls and found satisfactory. No signs of fuel leaking on the engine. Confirmed positive fuel flow to the #6 cylinder at the fuel injector. I inspected the throttle body fuel inlet screen and found it clean and free of debris. Checked for positive fuel pressure from the two fuel lines from the gascolator, no defects noted. Airframe fuel filter had clean fuel and the filter had little, very small particulate on filter screen. Fuel flowed slowly in the form of streaks from the right-hand wing and left-hand wing under gravity pressure through the airframe fuel filter housing when the fuel selector to either left or right-hand sides at a slow rate.

After completing the initial investigation, it was noted that there is no substantial damage. Provided my inspection notes and pictures to the NTSB and the aircraft was released to the privacy data omitted on March 26, 2026, at 1533.
