From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 05/01/2026, at approximately 10:55 a.m. EDT, a Ryan Navion aircraft, operated by the owner as pilot in command (PIC), sustained damage to the lower fuselage, left and right wing flap inboard corners, right-wing pitot tube, engine exhaust manifold, cockpit step, and engine propeller blade tips after touchdown on runway 35 at Chester Airport (ksnc), Connecticut, with the landing gear in the retracted position. An interview with the PIC was conducted at the scene. The PIC stated that during the landing approach to runway 35, he did not place the landing gear handle in the down position, resulting in a gear-up landing. The PIC further stated that once the aircraft fuselage contacted the pavement, the propeller blade tips struck the ground. The aircraft then slid down the runway, veered to the right of the centerline, departed the pavement, and continued into the grass area. The PIC stated that the aircraft subsequently slid down an embankment, where it came to rest. The PIC stated that he shut down the aircraft and exited, where he was met by airport personnel. No injuries were reported. The PIC stated that the aircraft was equipped with a pilot’s checklist; however, it was not used.

As the FAA filed it
