What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On may 24, 2026, at approximately 1500 local time, a student pilot was conducting solo traffic pattern operations in a privacy data omitted, at Daniel Field (kdnl), performing full-stop landings on runway 23.
During the second landing, the approach was reported as stabilized. Following touchdown, the aircraft bounced and drifted from the runway centerline. During the landing rollout, engine power was briefly increased and then reduced to idle. The aircraft subsequently departed the runway surface, crossed the grass area, struck a taxiway sign, and came to rest on a parallel taxiway.
A witness observed the aircraft bounce during landing, followed by a second touchdown attempt and an increase in engine power before losing sight of the aircraft. The witness and airport personnel responded to the aircraft's location on the parallel taxiway after it departed the runway.
The sole occupant was not injured. The aircraft sustained damage of undetermined extent and was later towed from the accident site.
After inspection of the aircraft, it was determined that the aircraft sustained only minor incidental damage.
As the FAA filed it
ON MAY 24, 2026, AT APPROXIMATELY 1500 LOCAL TIME, A STUDENT PILOT WAS CONDUCTING SOLO TRAFFIC PATTERN OPERATIONS IN A ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, AT DANIEL FIELD (KDNL), PERFORMING FULL-STOP LANDINGS ON RUNWAY 23.
