From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While climbing through 3000 ft out of kpwk, the crew were given a heading and heard an unusual rumble and felt a bump with a noticeable vibration. They checked the engine instruments and warning indicators which all indicated normal. The crew decided to divert kord and also declared an emergency. The crew executed all appropriate checklists and landed safely at 0900 CST at kord. Crew had ground personnel verify that there was no damage that would inhibit them from taxiing and then taxied to ramp. Upon inspection, they found the battery compartment access door had come open and departed the aircraft.
