From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, between approximately 12:29 and 12:30 local time, an incident occurred involving a 1987 Mooney M20K (registration privacy data omitted) on runway 7L at Daytona Beach International Airport. The flight originated from gainesville regional with one person on board, and no injuries were reported. According to the pilot's written statement, after being cleared for a visual approach and completing the prelanding checklist, the aircraft bounced upon landing, the landing gear collapsed as the aircraft settled, and it came to rest on the runway. However, in a separate statement provided to airport personnel, the pilot noted that while the instruments indicated the gear was down, metallic scraping was heard upon touchdown and the aircraft ultimately landed on its belly. Following the landing, the pilot made a radio call to the tower, observed a small amount of smoke from the airframe contacting the runway, shut off the fuel, master switch, and ignition, and safely exited the aircraft. Responding airport personnel arriving at the scene observed the aircraft at final rest on its belly with bent propeller tips, no extended gear, and no fluid leaks. Maintenance staff evaluating the pavement identified a 566-foot skid mark on the runway characterized by surface scratching but no holes. A crane was subsequently used to lift the aircraft, allowing the maintenance crew to manually lower the landing gear and push the aircraft clear of the runway, which was returned to normal operations at 14:38.

As the FAA filed it

ON TUESDAY, JUNE 9, 2026, BETWEEN APPROXIMATELY 12:29 AND 12:30 LOCAL TIME, AN INCIDENT OCCURRED INVOLVING A 1987 MOONEY M20K (REGISTRATION ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^) ON RUNWAY 7L AT DAYTONA BEACH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
