What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Approximately 15 minutes after departing coldfoot airport, while in cruise flight, the pilot noted a high-pitched engine noise. After briefly troubleshooting the pilot elected to return to the airport. Within a couple of minutes, the engine then began to lose power and surge. The pilots attempt to feather the propeller failed, resulting in increased drag. Unable to reach the airport, the pilot made an emergency landing in a flat area along a river and successfully evacuated all passengers.
