From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While en route from monterey regional airport (mry) to visalia municipal airport (vis), the pilot reported that the aircraft's engine was running rough. As a precaution, the pilot executed an off-field landing north of Kingsburg, CA. The aircraft sustained minor damage during the landing roll-out. An on-site investigation was conducted revealing no visible damage to the engine that could have caused the power loss and the aircraft had approximately 20 gallons of fuel onboard.

At this time, the cause of the aircraft engine power loss cannot be determined. A detailed post-incident engine teardown inspection will be arranged by the aircraft owner and this report will be updated as necessary.
