From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On approach into katl, the flight crew noticed the leading-edge flaps transit light illuminate intermittently. A go-around was initiated approximately at 800 ft. the flight crew ran the qrh and determined that the aircraft would be landed in a flaps 15 configuration. A pan-pan was declared and later upgraded to a mayday. The aircraft landed safely using flaps 15 with no reported injuries

• Maintenance personnel in atl carried out the leading-edge flap and slat proximity sensor test. The test passed successfully. Initial troubleshooting did not identify any faults, and the aircraft was released back to service.

• On the return segment to calgary (yyc), the flight crew experienced the same event. Post arrival, maintenance personnel towed the aircraft to the hangar and found outboard slat proximity sensor was fluctuating intermittently. The replacement of the sensor was carried out in accordance with amm 27-88-11 and tested serviceable. No further defects found.
