From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed mqi and indicated that takeoff, pattern segment, banner “pick”, and climb out enroute were normal. Upon configuring for the advertisement segment of the flight, he was unable to adjust nose down trim. Pilot, after noticing the discrepancy returned to kmqi, released the banner, and landed. Upon post flight inspection it was discovered that the elevator trim tab cable was severed. The mechanic removed the broken cable assembly and installed a new univair Aeronca cable assembly part number 2-1905S. The previous cable was of the galvanized steel type, and the new cable was stainless steel. The aircraft was returned to service.

As the FAA filed it
