From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Video from airport camera shows aircraft departed runway 17, climbed another 300 feet per ADS-B data, and immediately turned around to land. Aircraft touched down in a field beyond the end of runway 35 and impacted a chain link fence with barbed wire across the top, looped and came to a halt. FAA iic found fuel selector in between detents when he arrived on-scene and propeller was clearly not turning when it impacted the fence. Inspection of engine at the scene revealed nothing to indicate cause of engine failure. The same airport camera video shows what may be a puff of smoke on climb out. Video from nearby security camera shows pilot struggling to get aircraft on the ground but it was still travelling too fast. Aircraft set down approximately 100 feet from the fence it impacted. Paragraph 21.b. of this document lists operational factors as pilot error and fuel depletion based on findings at scene and review of videos. This record may be amended depending on findings after detailed engine test & inspection.

As the FAA filed it
