From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot departed kaln, alton, st. louis regional airport where he refueled. Flying at 7500 feet engine suddenly produced no power. Pilot chose 5K1 airport, Zelmer memorial airpark to land. Pilot used 90 to 95 knot approach speed, normal for velocity 173 elite aircraft. Touchdown was part way down runway 18. Aircraft departed runway to left and rolled into soybean field to the left of the departure end of the runway 18. During descent, the pilot’s execution of the restart procedure revealed that the engine would idle if the throttle was brought back.
