From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft took off from Jackson County (I18) on 8/16/2026 around 1300 local time. Aircraft turned downwind in pattern and lost ignition as stated by the pilot. Aircraft being experimental only had single ignition system installed and loss of ignition caused engine to stop. Pilot attempted to land back at field but did not have enough altitude to make landing. Pilot landed in soft field. Upon landing, nose landing gear broke off and the aircraft flipped on its top. Pilot was trapped in the aircraft for over 20 hours. Pilot stated that no maintenance had been performed on the engine or ignition system recently.
