What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Aircraft was configured for landing at 200 AGL. Practicing crosswind landings. Instructor thought student had aircraft under control. Student was correcting for crosswind. When the instructor realized aircraft control was in jeopardy and took over the aircraft, the aircraft exited the landing runway. Instructor applied aerodynamic braking but the aircraft proceeded through the grassy median striking a taxiway light with the left main landing gear leg strut coming stopping on the taxiway adjacent to landing runway. Instructor requested taxi to parking.
The only noted damage to the aircraft is a dent on the leading edge of the left landing gear strut fairing.
