Analysis

The airplane was cruising at 10,000 ft MSL when the plt noticed a loss of manifold pressure. He descended to 5000 ft, where the temp was 38 deg f, but the manifold pressure did not get above 20' hg. Subsequently, the eng stopped producingpower & the plt was forced to ditch the acft in prince william sound near Naked Island. The plt & pax were rescued by a nearby boat crew & treated for hypothermia. The acft sank in deep water & was not recovered.
