Analysis

The pilot reported he lost consciousness while on final approach to land, possibly due to dehydration and an illness. He awakened when he landed hard, and then radioed for assistance. Inspection of the airplane by an FAA inspector discovered substantial damage to the wings, and no evidence of any preimpact mechanical anomalies.

Factual narrative

According to the pilot, "I was on final for 27R at KTMB. I had a blackout. I was already having [a] headache and feeling feverish. I woke up when I got a bump at the time when the airplane hit the ground. I called the tower for assistance. That might be due to dehydration as I didn't have [any] water.".

Examination of the airplane by an FAA inspector found substantial damage to the nose wheel, prop and wings. There were no mechanical problems reported by the pilot or discovered during the post-accident examination of the airplane.
