Factual narrative
On 26 February 2013, at approximately 2232 UTC time, a Boeing B757-200, during a flight operated by Icelandair between Kastrup, Denmark, and Keflavik, Iceland, the flight crew received an EICAS message indicating a right hydraulic failure when at the top of the descent into Keflavik. When on final approach 4NM from RWY 20, autopilot as the landing flaps were selected, the airplane suddenly banked to the left and lost altitude. The airplane was on at the time, and the flight crew had difficulty regaining control of the airplane. Once control was established, the airplane regained altitude held as the crew troubleshooted the problem. The airplane landed on RWY 20 with the flaps retracted. There were no injuries. The incident is being investigated by the Air Accident Investigations Board (AAIB)of Iceland. The NTSB has appointed an Accredited Representative to assist the investigation under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13 as the State of Design and Manufacture of the aircraft.
