Factual narrative
The government of India has notified the NTSB of an incident involving an Airbus A320 airplane that occurred on October 26, 2019. An IndiGo Air Airbus A320-271N Neo powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW1127G-JM geared turbofan engines experienced a No. 2 (right) engine failure which was preceded by an ENG#2 stall warning and high vibration during the flight from Delhi Airport, Indian to Goa Airport, India. The engine was shutdown, an air turn back was performed, and an uneventful landing was made. Post landing engine inspection confirmed a low pressure turbine 3rd stage blade failure. The NTSB has appointed a U.S. Accredited Representative as the state of manufacturer of the engine to assist the government of India in their investigation under the provisions of ICAO Annex 13. All investigative information will be released by the government of India.
